Cool Way of the Fox/Assassin General questions

I want to make a concept character around the "Fox themed" attacks. Is there a glaring problem with that idea? If the skills are organized around the same theme (unblockable) that would make the character effective in close. Unless I am missing something in my inexperience.

I added the Comfort Animal skill but was really just looking for way to leverage the Ranger Primary and a pet is a (sometimes) effective compliment to a melee-er. I was original thinking of taking Troll Unguent but the heals on the Shadow skills are more thematic.

Alternately, I could work a trap in there but I have caltrops now to Cripple so I have a condition to use.

So I have: Melee attack chain, mostly unblock-able
: some heals and some "Get out of Dodge" with Shadow Refuge and Shadow Step
: A Pet or Trap to mix it up
:Caltrops to apply a condition.

Thoughts? Advice?

Thanks in advance...

As a note: I noticed that Hidden Caltrops was a second Elite.

A revised list would be:

Shadow Refuge, Fox Fangs, Fox's Promise, Golden Fox Strike, Caltrops, Heart of Shadow, Lightning Reflexes, Whirling Defense
Attributes
Dagger Mastery 11
Expertise 10
Shadow Arts 10

This set excludes Comfort Animal exchanging it for two Ranger stances leveraging Expertise.

welcome diego~
As for ranger primary, GW PvE is pretty lenient on what will work and what will not.. so play what you want ^^ expertise does help with dagger attacks, but you may find yourself hurting for energy without zealous daggers still.

a couple blaring issues i have with your proposed build are:

-your revised list still has 2 elites (fox's promise & hidden caltrops. prolly a typo and you meant plain old caltrops)

-if you're running fox's promise, you don't need foxy dagger skills (overlapping bonuses wasteful), there are far better elites that would fit better in a foxy dagger build. (maybe moebius strike, assault enchantments?)

-blind will be your main shutdown since you're aiming to be unblockable, antidote signet is a rather useful energy-free attribute-free skill.

-you eventually want to bring 3 pve skills, some are rather overpowered so probably worth bringing 3 of them. (maybe dwarven stability to enchance lightning reflex or asuran scan for damage?)

as i said before, normal mode pve's fairly forgiving, so don't worry about it too much. play how you want and tweak your build as necessary ^^.

Hey Tacotown!

Yes, I meant normal Caltrops (Still learning the template tools).

Thanks for your notes, that is exactly what I was looking for. I noticed the same thing about over lapping bonuses but was going for a theme build. That being said, I will definitely investigate your suggestions and revise.

Thanks again!

Sure you're unblockable, but you need the enchantment up for Golden Fox Strike to lead, and honestly, you can get a lot more damage and faster attack chains if you go:

Jagged Strike, Fox Fangs, Death Blossom.

You can repeat this chain on recharge almost every 3 seconds. Run as One, Rampage as One, or Never Rampage Alone all good choices here. Scavenger's Strike is also handy with the Jagged Strike for energy management.

As for blocking, you only need to worry about Jagged (1 second recharge), and Death Blossom always makes two attempts at AoE damage. Even if blocked, the AoE damage around your target is unblockable. Even if fighting an enemy with 50% block, you'll always do more damage with this combo than the 3-fox combo.

Thanks guys, that was very helpful.

So similar skills are not really a 'set' but more of a way of subcategorizing skills by effect (in this case unblock-able) of which you will not need all of them at once.
